Pulau Ketam is a great travel option for a day trip from Kuala Lumpur. It's highly suggested to have a getaway to this island besides the exciting things to do in Kuala Lumpur City.

Hi, It’s Vinny. I’m going to have a one day getaway to Pulau Ketam or Crab Island in Port Klang. Follow me and we’ll explore this genuine island together.
How to get to Pulau Ketam from Kuala Lumpur?
It’s convenient to get there by public transportation. I get on an LRT for Subang Jaya station to catch the MRT to Port Klang. Just relax and wait till the last stop which is only 3 minute-walk to the jetty terminal. Now we need to buy the tickets - 17RM for round way speed boats.

There are 2 types of speed boats to Crab Island which have or without air-conditioner. The open speed boat without air-con runs faster, a little bit more costly. We chose the earliest available boat to save us more time on Crab Island.

Things to do in Pulau Ketam - Crab Island
After 40 minutes, we could make our presence on Crab Island featured by mangrove swamps, floating houses and the delicious seafood. Founded in 1880, Pulau Ketam is a small village with a population of around 8,000, majority Chinese origins. Bikes and motorbikes are the main means on Crab Island. We decided to walk along the narrow paths to have a closer observance of this fishing community. Making our way through the main road on the island, we pass by many shops and restaurants to try local specialties, visit Chinese Temples, wooden bridges, etc. For lunch on the island, it’s highly recommended to order the chilli crab. The seafood and crab on the island are so fresh, tasty and at a reasonable cost.

Pulau Ketam literally means Crab Island as people saw many crabs on this island. When we were about to leave this island, the descending tide revealed flat mud swamps and the small crabs came out of the mud. Accommodations are available for visitors to stay overnight on this island. A one day getaway is fine for me. We already had an enjoyable visit.
